LeConte Pears
The LeConte pear is named for John Eatton LeConte who introduced the fruit to Georgia in 1856. The LeConte-Woodmanston plantation in Riceboro had an orchard of the pears. The Midway Museum is proud to offer LeConte pear preserves, jams, jellies, and butters for purchase. These items are made in Liberty County from LeConte pears grown at the Old Savannah House B & B, circa 1878. The home, located in Flemington, was built by Robert Quarterman Cassels and was formerly known as Lynhurst and Gravel Hill. Stop by the museum to browse the variety of products available. Purchases may be made online but must be picked up from the museum, shipping is not available at this time.
