Liberty250

July 2026 marks the semiquincentennial of America’s founding. Liberty County, the city of Midway in particular, holds an esteemed position in the founding of the new nation. As part of the America250 and Liberty250, the Midway Museum will hold an event to mark this important anniversary. More details will be forthcoming.

The Midway Museum was opened in 1959 to showcase the importance of the settlement and its place in the push for independence. The Liberty County Herald ran a special promotional edition of the newspaper to commemorate the opening. Please visit this LINK to read the full paper.
